Caldmore Village Festival Group presents…

Cultures of Walsall

Cultures of Walsall is a spectacular festival promoted by Caldmore Village Festival Group to celebrate Walsall’s diverse heritage.

The festival incorporates a fusion of music, dance, food and cultural activities from many of the Borough’s communities. It is a family-friendly event that includes a children’s funfair as well arts and craft activities throughout the day. Sports tournaments in cricket and football will take place to ensure there is something to suit all tastes and interests.

There is a special competition for all of the family based on discovering the different cultures of Walsall with a prize draw at 3.45pm.

Entry to the site and stage area as well as to the community tents and activities is absolutely free.

The festival this year incorporates the Caldmore Carnival Procession. If you would like to join the Carnival’s colourful parade as it makes it way through Caldmore and Palfrey on the way to the Festival site please come and join the carnival crew in Caldmore Community Garden in Carless street in Caldmore, WS1 3RH at 2.30pm. Joining in is free and everyone is welcome but children should be accompanied by adults. Come as you are, in your national dress, in carnival costume or even dressed up as you favorite character.

The Carnival procession will arrive in the park at 3.30.

It’s going to be a great day. We look forward to seeing you there!

Flags Out for a Diamond Festival

The first Diamond Jubilee bunting event took place on Saturday 10th March at The White Hart Gallery on Caldmore Green. Bunting is being made to line the streets of Caldmore in the run up to the Diamond Jubilee Festival event taking place in June.

If you would like to take part and make some bunting Jain will be able to offer groups an introductary workshop and then you will be able to take materials away in order to make the bunting ready for the end of April. Alternatively if you would prefer to make bunting from the comfort of your own home, the size required is 34 x 34 x 34 cm’s and you can then deliver your completed triangles at Caldmore Housing on Caldmore Green.

Jain will also be planning another drop in bunting making workshop in April so keep in touch to find out more!

For more information or to find out how you can take part in making bunting for the festival please contact Jain on 07854 935 600 or email her on pumpkin_mckay@yahoo.com

Festival Launch Party – what a great night!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

What an absolutely cracking launch to this year’s Caldmore Village Festival. The Bath Street Centre hosted our launch party to a ram-packed sell out crowd – next year we may have to sell ‘standing only’ tickets!!!

The evening kicked off with the traditional ‘loading of the plates’ buffest style followed by a fantastic performance by Caldmores own Bath Street Band. The rest of the evening continued onwards and upwards with further outstanding musical performances by Malik Raof and Malik Razak, Dean Janjua, and Snooty Bobs. With dancing from S and J Stars Dance school and stand up from Dave Shakespeare plus more ‘loading of the plates’ the evening proved to be a feast for the senses.

What a fantastic atmosphere – and a fantastic start to the year!

If you like what you see and would like to find out more or get involved in this years festival let us know by responding to this post and we will get back to you. Otherwise just subscribe to the blog for regular updates. Or why don’t you come along to the Caldmore Community Clean Up on Saturday 12th February for more information… Click Here!  (you get a scrummy lunch on the house)
