Press Release by Caldmore Village Festival Group
The Cultures of Walsall at Palfrey Park on Sunday 25th September 12.00-4.30pm
Caldmore Village Festival Group has this year added a new twist to their annual musical
extravaganza by bringing all the Walsall diverse communities together to celebrate each
other’s culture.
The Cultures of Walsall combines an exciting mix of music, dance, food and cultural activities
from many of the Borough’s communities. English, Pakistani, Indian, Caribbean, Afghan,
Polish, Bangldeshi, Czech and Slovakian are some of the cultures that will be on show to
add to the live music.
We also have children’s rides and entertainment and arts and craft activities throughout the
day as well as Cricket and Football sports tournaments. We even have a special competition
for all the family. So there is plenty for everyone to enjoy and entry is free.
The festival this year incorporates the Caldmore Carnival Procession. If you would like to
join the Carnival’s colourful promenade as it makes its way through Caldmore and Palfrey on
route to the Festival site. Please come and join the carnival crew in Caldmore Community
garden in Carless street in Caldmore at 2.30pm. Come as you are or come dressed up as
you favourite character.
Thanks to funding from Walsall Council, Walsall Housing Group, Tarmac and, Near
Neighbours fund, CVFG will again focus on bringing the diverse groups together using
cultural heritage, arts and music in one of the green flag bearing Palfrey park. CVFG has
organised music and stage performances giving the opportunity to local and national acts as
well as providing a focus for the best in Asian dance.
CVFG has engaged a range of groups, organisations and communities in preparation for the
the Cultures of Walsall to showcase their heritage so we can value their contribution to the
local community.
Denise Perry, the new Chairperson said ”I am extremely excited & really looking forward to
the event, I would like to invite all of you to join us, bring your families & enjoy the festivities
on the day. Events of this nature are very rear and we hope everyone will come and support
Mohammed Arif, vice-chair of CVFG said, “it has taken lots of effort by CVFG to bring about
this event and partnership working with key local organisations like Walsall Council, whg,
Near Neighbours is key to the on-going success of the group. Despite the difficulties in
gaining funding CVFG goes strength to strength and I am pleased that we are able to bring
the Walsall community together once again to celebrate Cultures of Walsall. We invite
everyone to come along and the entrance is free to everyone”.
CVFG is seeking volunteers to help us on the day. Anyone interested can join us.
Parking is limited and we encourage everyone to walk to the park.
