Caldmore Community Garden was established in 2011 to create a space to be used for recreation, food growing, workshops for all age groups, training and education in horticulture, as well as community events. The garden was developed on a piece of derelict land leased to the Caldmore Village Festival Group by a local housing provider – Walsall Housing Group (whg).
Since then the garden has gained several raised beds for vegetable and herb growing, a polytunnel, an orchard, and a stage area for community performances.
It is run entirely by local community volunteers supported by local organisations. The garden has evolved from a small group to a project involving the whole community. Among volunteers we have people of English, Bangladeshi, Pakistani, Indian and Polish origin.
A derelict building adjacent and later incorporated into the garden – Caldmore Community House – will be a space open to the whole community.
Installing solar panels will enable us to generate free energy for the House and to raise funds to invest in the House, the Garden, and other community projects – in you!
Help us to fulfil this dream and vote for this project to give Caldmore some positive, green energy!
