Caldmore Village Festival calling all volunteers!

Volunteers needed at a 3 day festival spectacular in Palfrey Park,Walsall.

It’s that time of the year again & planning for this year’s brilliant Caldmore Village Festival & The Walsall Mela is in full swing. The amazing Caldmore Village Festival & the fantastic  Walsall Mela are in their fourth year & getting bigger every year. Do you want to be part of the festival/mela organising team, would you like to meet some of the stars?

We need volunteers to work in shifts for over the 3 day period of the festival, we will provide refreshments and a brilliant playful atmosphere, we need helpful volunteers to monitor the site and make sure all who attend have the best time!

Jobs include general park and car park stewards, Kids entertainment stewards, Information stewards, Noise patrol stewards, festival stewards, gate stewards and litter pickers, 5-a-side football stewards.

Last year we had over 100 volunteers who had a great time enjoying the festivities at our festival & mela, many bands and choirs, children, athletes and also local dancers took part, we had over 20,000 visitors. It was a multicultural splash!

This year the fantastic Walsall Mela will take place at Palfrey Park again with the amazing turnout last year, we need volunteers to help with most of the above duties listed. Kabbadi, Stonelifting and volleyball as well as young people’s sports tasters will be some of the sports seen. The Walsall Mela will be held on the 7^thof July this year.

28 – 30 May 2011 Three Day Festival & 22 May 2011 Sports Mela

Volunteers needed at a three day festival spectacular in Caldmore, Walsall.

The festival team are looking for volunteers to work in shifts over the three day Caldmore Village Festival 2011. Refreshments and food vouchers will be provided as well as a brilliant playful atmosphere! The team need helpful volunteers to monitor the site and make sure all who attend have the best time.

Jobs include:

Band and car park stewards

Kids entertainment stewards

Programme stewards

Noise patrol stewards

Carnival stewards

Festival stewards

Gate stewards and litter pickers

6-a-side football stewards

 

Last year the team had over 100 volunteers who had a great time enjoying the festivities, many bands and choirs and also local dancers took part. 2010 saw over 10,000 visitors in attendance. It was a multicultural splash!

This year the festival proudly present Walsall Sports Mela at Walsall Rugby Club on 22 May 2011. The team are also looking for volunteers to help with crowds and parking there too. Kabbadi, stonelifting, tug-of-war and volleyball will be some of the sports seen.

Do you want to help put on a Festival?

Caldmore Village Festival is looking for a volunteer to work along side our co-ordinating team to help organise this year’s Festival.  This is an exciting opportunity learn new skills and to gain inside Knowledge about what goes into putting on a large event involving music, arts and sport.

 The Person we are looking for….

• Will have Knowledge of the local Community
• Will have a few hours free each week which they can dedicate to the festival
• Will have lots of enthusiasm for putting on community events
• Will be good at talking to people

No experience necessary.  We will train you and support you.  And you will get to work along side our organising team gaining insight and knowledge about how to put on a community festival.

What you will have to do…

Depending on your experience you may end up doing anything from organising activities to helping to deliver leaflets.  Putting on a community festival involves lots of skills and if you have a background in organising events in your local community or would like to learn how, then you may be the person we are looking for.  You will particularly have the opportunity to learn about event management and event promotion.

What you will get from working with us…

Although we cannot pay you we will guarantee you will not be out of pocket from working with us.  You will have the chance to gain new skills and experience in putting on community events. Most importantly you will be part of a team and get to express your ideas about what needs to happen.
